Privacy Policy

The short version: Slowpebble does not collect, store, sell, or transmit your personal data or your browsing history. There are no accounts, no analytics on your activity, no ads, and no third-party trackers. Everything below is the detail.
The macOS app
Slowpebble blocks sites on your Mac through a system network extension. The list of blocked sites is downloaded from our public feeds (adult-content and proxy/unblocker sites). Your own settings — which categories you enable, custom domains, and your commitment clock — are stored locally and sync across your own Apple devices through your personal iCloud account. We never see them. We host no user data.
The app never records, stores, or transmits the websites you visit. Blocking decisions are made on your device and the result is discarded immediately. A license key is used only to verify your purchase; it is not linked to your browsing.
The Chrome extension
The extension is an optional companion to the app. It does two things: it shows the Slowpebble block screen when you open a blocked site (so a block reads as intentional, not a network error), and it blocks those sites inside Chrome for cases the system filter can't see (such as sites that hide their address with encrypted DNS).
It does not collect any user data.
Specifically, regarding the permissions it requests:
- webNavigation — used only to detect when you navigate to a blocked site, so the extension can redirect that tab to its own block page. Only the destination hostname is read, only on your device, only to match it against the locally-stored list. Your browsing history is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere.
- storage — used only to cache the public blocklist on your device so the extension works quickly and offline. It stores no personal data.
- alarms — used only to refresh the public blocklist on a schedule. Not used for notifications or tracking.
- Host access — limited to blocklist.slowpebble.com and proxies.slowpebble.com, solely to download the blocklists. The extension does not read or modify the content of the pages you visit, and requests access to no other site.
What we don't do
We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties. We do not use your data for anything unrelated to blocking sites. We do not use it for creditworthiness or lending. We do not run remote code — all of the extension's code ships inside the extension package.
